The Apostle John introduces Jesus as “The Word” in his Gospel:
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” (John 1:1)
By Word, God spoke the world into creation. God said, “Let there be light”, and there was light. (Genesis 1:3)
The Word became flesh and dwelt among us. (John 1:14)
By Word, Jesus calmed the storm. Jesus rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” (Mark 4:39)
By Word, Jesus healed many. Jesus rarely healed by touch, as it was mostly by His word. Jesus healed the Centurion’s servant from afar. (Matthew 8:5-13)
By Word, Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead. Jesus called in a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out!” (John 11:43)
Jesus said, “The Words that I speak to you are Spirit and they are Life.” (John 6:63)
Jesus often said to those he met, “Do not be afraid.” (Matthew 28:10). And the last words Jesus gave us are:
“Remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:20)
