The Bahamas is an archipelago of 700 coral islands between Florida and Cuba.  Only forty are inhabited.  Bahamians are known for their vibrant colors and music.  I saw the junkanoo parade when I was there and it was one of my favorite travel memories.  I love seeing people celebrate life and music and using their creative God-given talents. Bahamians have a strong Christian legacy, the public faith of many leaders, and a unifying Christian Council of the churches.  Pray that God’s work will continue on the island, and that they will reach out to the younger generations who are beginning to feel isolated from traditional church culture.
Azerbaijan lies between Russia and Iran on the Caspian Sea, and was once part of the Soviet Union.  While Christian work is opposed in the country, the Azeri Church has emerged within the last two decades and is growing.  In 1991, there were 40 Christians.  Now there are around 3,000.  This is exciting news to hear, in contrast to the many other more developed countries where Christianity is in decline.  The gospel is being told and those who are seeking will find. “Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.  I will be found by you, declares the LORD.”  – the […]
