The country of Mauritius, not related to Mauritania in Western Africa, is a very tiny island on the other side of Madagascar.  All peoples immigrated there from the 18th century onward.  Most are of Indian descent, and some Creole, African and European.  It is largely a Hindu government and culture with strong Indian ties.  Missions are allowed but proselytism is looked upon unfavorably.  Even so, large numbers of Hindus are coming to Jesus through the bold witness of evangelical and Pentecostal churches.  Praise God for these bold witnesses in such a small remote area of the world.
