We’re about halfway through the year now. How are you doing? Are your New Year’s resolutions a distant memory? Could you imagine how much would change in only half a year? Or are you pleasantly surprised at the outcome you could not possibly see just a short time ago?

At the beginning of the year, I posted a Psalm about happiness in the new year. Now that we’re halfway through, here is another Psalm for a mid-year reminder. It is taken from Psalm 91, which is thought to have been written by Moses. It calls to God for protection and to the One who promises salvation.

It tells us to keep going! To seek shelter and refuge in God.

Life is constantly on the move. The winter snow and cold are gone, and the spring storms have calmed. Summer brings us warmth, sunshine, family vacations, and cool, refreshing water. God has given us seasons for everything, a time to heal and to learn, and a new day every day to begin again in God’s love and protection.

The book of Psalms is about real life – rejoicing, mourning, seeking, celebrating, and wondering. It is a guidebook from God about our emotions and thoughts. Some are uplifting, and some make you cry or wonder – just like life. They are written just for you, filled with God’s promises to help guide you through the rest of the year.
