Bahrain is a small group of islands in the Arabian Gulf between Qatar and Saudi Arabia. Unemployment and poverty are becoming bigger problems as their oil and water supplies are dwindling. The ruling government is Sunni Muslim but the majority of people are Shi’a Muslim, and this is a source of conflict. There is also a large expatriate community of workers from more than 50 nations drawn to this part of the world. It is illegal to proselytize Muslims but Christians are free to worship, though there are not many places where they can do so.
For over 100 years, the American Mission Hospital located in Bahrain has been highly regarded as a place to receive medical care based on the Biblical principals of grace, truth and love. Please pray for this hospital and medical staff that they may continue to be a light to this country.
