Over the last week there has been crazy weather, and also for me, a really bad cold that has put a stall in my running journey.  I started out last week running with George Strait’s Troubadour album from 2008.  It was a nice change from the alternative rock funk that I must have been in during the early 2000’s, according to my apparent CD selections at that time.  This was now more my pace, and I think I found myself in that little piece of time. I decided to hang here awhile, and continued this week with Kenny Chesney’s Hemingway’s Whiskey, from the more recent 2010.  Ahhh… […]
I completed my running journey this week by listening to One EskimO’s Shrangri La from 2009. If you like to dream, think, and generally wander while running, then this is the album for you. I kept on running just so I could listen to it again!  And still I have no idea how I acquired this somewhat strange CD into my collection.  It must have been during my foggy years a few years back… This cartoon version is great! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UEqTPlD-8QI
For today’s running CD, I needed something with a little vigor for a rainy Winter’s Monday.  This is from a little-known obscure group called Travis: The Invisible Band, and a song called “Sing” from 2001.  I first heard this song from the outdoor speakers of the ski slopes in Steamboat Springs, CO.  The rush of skiing down the mountain, snow blowing in your face, and being up close to some of the most breathtaking scenery in the world will make you want to… well, sing!  I didn’t include the video with this song because it’s better to listen to it with […]
As I continue my running journey through the last 20 years of my CD collection, today’s selection is a much more personal one.  It is Elton John’s Made In England from 1995, specifically the last track called “Blessed”.  I used to sing this song to my child while waiting for him to be born.  The doctors had said I might not be able to have children; but I knew that God, the Creator of all Life, could give me a baby if He wanted.  And He did.  Happy 17th Birthday John McCusker.  You are blessed.
