South Africa is at the southernmost point of the African continent. It is the richest and most industrialized country in Africa, with some of the largest deposits of gold, platinum and chrome. There is a vast gap between rich and poor, with high unemployment (almost 30%) and one-third of the population living below $2 US per day. Lesotho is a small country at the southern tip of African continent, surrounded by South Africa.  Half of the population lives below the poverty line, unemployment is as high as 45%, and AIDS has had a devastating effect.  The mountainous population is among the poorest and most vulnerable, and have little contact with the gospel or churches.  Mission groups have recently committed to building evangelical churches in the region.  Pray for these churches and the workers that God sends.
