Burundi is in central Africa between Rwanda and Tanzania. It is one of the poorest nations with 70-80% living below the poverty line. The country is highly in debt, and gained its independence from Belgium in 1962. Christian workers were expelled by the volatile regime between 1970 and 1985, and few have returned. Burkina Faso is a landlocked country between Mali and Niger in western Africa. One of the world’s poorest countries, it is prone to drought and famine. The spirit world is also very dominant here. The country is said to be 50% Muslim, 20% Christian, and 100% animist (belief in spirits). There are many physical and spiritual needs of the people, and the few missionaries are stretched. Pray that the dark spiritual hold will be lifted in this country with the light that is Jesus Christ.

The Sultan rules as an absolute monarch and maintains the traditions of a Muslim monarchy that dates back to the 15th century. The Christian church does exist there, but under difficult conditions. Evangelism is illegal, no foreign Christian workers are permitted, and importing Bibles or Christian literature is illegal. […]
