I had the hardest job to do this week at work: to apologize.  I can handle any work task I’m given and make impossible deadlines and commitments for my clients, but I find it very hard to say the words beginning with, “I’m sorry for…” Well, especially when I know I was right and my co-worker was wrong…  She had blamed me for something that I felt was her own fault, and she was being very difficult about it.  As I drove into work the next day, thinking about what had transpired between us the day before, I became full of dread and anxiety.  I wrestled with the thought that I knew I should apologize […]
I’ll never forget that day at lunch.  I’ve thought about it many times since.  Why didn’t I have an answer?  What would I say today?  I was resolved to find the answer. My co-worker sat across from me in the lunch cafeteria.  She had invited me to lunch that day, which was unusual since we were not close friends and had never had lunch together in all the years we worked at the same company.  She was retiring soon and asked if I would join her for lunch.  I was happy to go.  She was a funny person, liked to tell jokes and always had a smile […]

You know […]
Did you watch or hear about yesterday’s Evolution vs. Creationism Debate between Bill Nye (Science Guy) and Ken Ham (Answers in Genesis CEO)?  I’m glad we’re having this open debate, but there is nothing that “ruffles my feathers” more for me than walking into a museum somewhere and seeing a definitive statement of how the earth is billions of years old.  When this happens, my family will look cautiously over at me, shaking their head and thinking, “uh oh, here she goes again”.  By my nature, I am a very factual and logical person, which serves me well in my computer career.  Computers always have a reason […]
