The British Virgin Islands were hit hard from hurricane Irma in September 2017. The winds reached 215 mph. Irma was the most powerful Atlantic hurricane to strike land and it ran almost straight through this island chain. 85% of the buildings were destroyed or severely damaged and the infrastructure was torn apart. Please pray for the people and the rebuilding effort in this tiny island chain.

Brazil has become a leading mission-sending nation as well as having one of the largest groups of missionaries there. They are religiously open and enthusiastic toward faith, but have little preparation and support. Recently a ministry in Atlanta hosted a team of women from Brazil. Botswana is in the southern part of Africa. The Kalahari Desert covers 80% of the country and is prone to severe droughts. Life expectancy is 53 years. AIDS has devastated the country, having the world’s second-highest prevalence of AIDS after Swaziland. There were many gospel missionaries of the past, but tribal culture remains strong. Pray for the missionaries and churches that are there. They are not forgotten. Pray they may reach the people with the message of love and hope in Jesus Christ, who also died for them.

Settlements have been in Bosnia from a very early time. Christianity arrived in the first century AD. Later during the Turkish occupation, many became Muslim. The first World War started in Bosnia when a Bosnian Serb nationalist assassinated Austrian Archduke Franz Ferdinand in the capital city of Sarajevo. In the second World War, hundreds of thousands were exterminated by Nazi collaborators.
