Stories are powerful.  People relate to them easily.  I have found that people remember stories far more than just stating a bunch of facts.  Jesus used this same method, often speaking in parables to the people of his time.  It was about something real in their life.  This is who Jesus was and is.  He cared about people’s needs.  He responded first to their basic human needs before reaching out to their hearts.  Jesus understood.  Even today, it is still the same. The following story is not a particularly happy story of miracles or hope, but it is that of the basic human need inside all […]
It finally happened. That one day when you know you’re getting older and you’re no longer the hippest person in the crowd, not even close.  Today was that day for me.  I was leaving my downtown office as I saw one of my co-workers leaving too – ON A SKATEBOARD!  He threw his backpack over his shoulder, dropped the skateboard to the ground, and rode off.  I thought I saw a little grin on his face as I did a double-take.  Those darn Millennials. Christmas Day is the only day of the year where the entire world stops for a day.  Even wars have called a truce on this day.  Peace.  A time to celebrate the day God chose to make Himself known to all mankind in a personal way.  Jesus Christ.  And for all that […]
