Montenegro is a coastal Adriatic state that is small, but mountainous and picturesque. With its beautiful coastline, it is Europe’s fastest growing tourist industry. It was recognized as a state as early as 1077 and became part of Yugoslavia in 1918, and separated in 2006. With their independence, it has brought optimism and hope. The country of Mauritius, not related to Mauritania in Western Africa, is a very tiny island on the other side of Madagascar. All peoples immigrated there from the 18th century onward. Most are of Indian descent, and some Creole, African and European. It is largely a Hindu government and culture with strong Indian ties. Malawi is in Central Africa next to Tanzania and Mozambique. It is a densely populated country with little development, cycles of drought and heavy rainfall, and widespread AIDS. They became independent from Britain in 1964 and were ruled by a ruthless dictator for the next 30 years.
