Life is fascinating, isn’t it?  Millions of people at any one time, moving in sync, creating a type of rhythm and harmony we call humankind.  It’s not without its problems, of course, but think of the endless combinations and opportunities it has.  It’s limitless, really.  As long as we acknowledge there is a higher power above us and that we do not have the ultimate control over the universe, then we can do amazing things with what we are given.  We have choices, maybe not our own personal genie, but we do have a lot of ability to carve our own destiny, purpose, and happiness. It finally happened. That one day when you know you’re getting older and you’re no longer the hippest person in the crowd, not even close.  Today was that day for me.  I was leaving my downtown office as I saw one of my co-workers leaving too – ON A SKATEBOARD!  He threw his backpack over his shoulder, dropped the skateboard to the ground, and rode off.  I thought I saw a little grin on his face as I did a double-take.  Those darn Millennials. When the first storm rushed in unexpectedly, most of us were caught off-guard, stranded for hours or even days on the interstate, having to walk home for miles in the snow while abandoning our nice cars and 2-wheel […]
Today is such a beautiful day that it is fitting that I should only write of happy things. Snow is gently falling and my family is safely tucked inside the warmth of our house.  No where we need to go today.  The pantry is stocked full, a warm fire glowing in the fireplace, and plenty of wood to keep us warm if the power should go out during this winter storm.  It reminds me of God.  He keeps us safe from the dangers.  Sure, we all fall at times, but we only need to reach up and take God’s hand and […]
