Brunei is a small country enclave within the area of Malaysia. It has some interesting facts. It is one of the riches states in Asia due to their oil and gas reserves, and has free education and health care, no income tax for most, and heavily subsidized housing, fuel and food. Bolivia is only one of two landlocked countries in the Americas. It is on the southwest side of Brazil. Once it was South America’s richest area, but corrupt governments and the fall of silver prices have made it one of the poorest. They gained their independence from Spain in 1825 but have had 200 coups and revolutions since then. Most of the economy is agriculture but about 70% illegally grow the coca plant used in cocaine. Belarus was the most affected by the Chernobyl catastrophe of 1986, which happened close to their border in Ukraine. Today, there is still environmental and human destruction from that disaster. Belarus, though separated from USSR in 1991, is still mostly controlled by Russia and still operates like a dictatorship. There is very little religious freedom, and while the believing Church is growing, there is still persecution and state hostility. The Bahamas is an archipelago of 700 coral islands between Florida and Cuba. Only forty are inhabited. Bahamians are known for their vibrant colors and music. I saw the junkanoo parade when I was there and it was one of my favorite travel memories. I love seeing people celebrate life and music and using their creative God-given talents. Bahamians have a strong Christian legacy, the public faith of many leaders, and a unifying Christian Council of the churches.
