Colombia is located in the far northwest corner of South America, closest to North America.  They supply 90% of the US’s cocaine.  There are drug-lords, violence, political unrest, kidnappings and thousands of street children.  Who is to blame?  I believe the demand from the US has a large responsibility.  Our addictions, excess and greed will and do have dire consequences on the world. Chile is wedged between the Andes mountains and the Pacific Ocean, with an average of only about 150 km in width.  Mining and mineral exports are the most important economic activities, especially with copper.  Chile is still trying to progress from its previous dictatorship to a democracy. Canada has almost 10 million square km, the world’s second-largest country.  Most are European with a French majority in Quebec.  It has a diverse landscape and mix of peoples – both indigenous and immigrant.  70% of their trade is with the USA.  There is freedom of religion but also rapid secularization.  The majority is Christian Catholic, but 20% are non-religious.  Just like in the USA, the increase in liberal theology coincides with the decrease in church attendance.
